Warehouses and production areas are often loud, hectic and crowded. In addition, high racks and stacked goods block the view of the surrounding area in some places. This can quickly make driving maneuvers risky and lead to collisions, especially at corners, intersections or driveways. It can also be tricky where long, straight stretches tempt the driver to drive fast.
It is particularly dangerous in areas where industrial trucks and pedestrians come together: In 2021, there were 15,322 forklift accidents resulting in personal injury in Germany, 15 of which were fatal. In 20.7 percent of the cases, the injured party was driving the forklift themselves. In 50.8 percent of the cases, the injured persons were pedestrians who were hit or crushed by the forklift.

Always in the protection zone: the Linde Safety Guard
Prevent accidents before they occur: Linde Safety Guard makes it possible. This innovative assistance system actively warns drivers and pedestrians of hazards – even through walls and racks. Special transmitters surround vehicles, people and infrastructure with warning zones and detect critical situations early on. In addition, speed zones can be defined in which the system reduces the speed of the vehicle and informs the driver. Depending on the application, audible signals, flashing LEDs or vibrations alert everyone involved. Linde Safety Guard significantly increases safety in the vicinity of the truck.

The vigilant doorman: Linde Door Control
Collisions between forklift trucks and high-speed doors can cause high costs in many companies. These collisions happen so often that the damage is usually already included in the repair budget. The Linde Door Control module can help. As part of the Linde Safety Guard, it enables intelligent communication between the vehicle and the door. The speed of approaching forklift trucks is automatically reduced if necessary, which significantly minimizes the risk of collision and thus avoids repair costs.
At the same time, energy loss in the hall is reduced because the opening time of the door is minimized: the door closes immediately as soon as the forklift leaves the warning zone.

Wearable safety: the Pedestrian Warning Band
The Pedestrian Warning Band is the latest addition to the Linde Safety Guard. It uses vibration, sound and light to alert its wearers to approaching vehicles. With an accuracy of 10 cm and an ergonomic design, it combines a high level of safety with maximum comfort. The belt fits over certified high-visibility vests and has a replaceable battery for use in multi-shift operations.
