X20 – X35 and X35 - X50 Electric Forklift Trucks
The Best of Both WorldsForklift trucks have to work under extreme conditions, such as constant lifting and lowering, transporting goods over uneven surfaces, dirt and dust, and temperature fluctuations. Due to their durability and performance, it was only ever internal combustion trucks that were deemed fit for the job, as electric forklifts simply could not offer sufficient performance – until now. With its new X20 – X35 and X35 - X50 electric forklift trucks, Linde has cast this limitation aside and made it possible – for the first time ever – for electric forklifts to be used in applications that used to rely upon the use of IC trucks.
The new electric forklift trucks are based on one shared platform for Linde’s whole new generation of counterbalanced forklift trucks. They combine the best of both worlds, offering the dynamics, flexibility, and zero emissions of a Linde electric forklift truck, together with the durability, performance characteristics, and power that until now was only available with IC trucks with hydrostatic drive. The key to this performance is a new motor generation and the new truck concept, which has been developed from scratch.

The Most Powerful Electric Forklift in the World
The electric X models in the 2 to 5 ton load capacity range from Linde are just as powerful and robust as internal combustion trucks, even in the most extreme conditions. The new series even makes light work of heavy loads, long transport routes, and steep ramps. The key to this is the core element of the drive unit: the synchronous reluctance motors (SRM+) provide the electric forklifts with unique performance characteristics, which are reinforced even further by the use of permanent magnets. The use of modern electric motors in combination with powerful lithium-ion batteries eliminate the vibrations, noise, and emissions typical of IC trucks, making the X models a more environmentally friendly, comfortable, and quiet alternative.
Even the bodywork and the chassis are built to withstand the most extreme conditions, ensuring the trucks can be used on uneven surfaces. This is made possible by the long wheelbase and the large tires together with the vibration-free drive axle based on an elastomer ring bearing. This ensures the trucks are impermeable to dust and dirt. All power units are hermetically sealed and can be cleaned using high-pressure equipment.
Drive Concept
An innovative water-cooling system ensures that the power units installed on the twin-motor drive axle operate within an optimal temperature range. This ensures that the user has access to the rated output even under extreme conditions in multi-shift operation.
Synchronous Reluctance Motors
The powerful synchronous reluctance motors in the X20 – X35 and X35 – X50 series were newly developed from scratch. They are also fitted with permanent magnets, which increase the effectiveness and energy efficiency even further, making the trucks the most powerful electric forklifts available.
Flexible Power Supply
The outstanding feature of the Linde lithium-ion systems is the multi-stage safety concept, which allows the forklift trucks to be used in challenging environments with high mechanical loads and extreme temperature fluctuations. Other benefits include the significantly higher energy efficiency compared to lead-acid batteries and the higher availability of the trucks thanks to shorter charging cycles and the interim charging option.
Load Balancing
In electrically powered fleets, Linde Load Balancing helps customers manage their local energy infrastructure. The aim is to avoid expensive power peaks (Peak Power Management) and statically as well as dynamically limit the available charging power. To achieve this, various charging strategies are developed and the customer selects the one that suits them.
Perceptibly powerful
Operators of the X models experience a whole new level of performance as soon as they first put their foot on the pedal, with the sort of acceleration that would previously have only been possible in an IC truck. Yet, in spite of this, the electric forklift truck travels quietly and with zero emissions. The quiet dynamics with powerful performance, combined with numerous ergonomic improvements, make for a driving experience like no other.

Driver’s Workstation
The spacious, bright driver’s cab gives the operator significantly more space, ensuring their physical comfort and enabling them to work throughout their shift without becoming fatigued. All of the important control elements are positioned within easy reach of the driver to reduce physical strain as much as possible.
Optimum Visibility
The slim mast construction, narrow A-pillars, and low front plate ensure the driver has a comfortable sitting position with optimum view of the load and the surroundings of the truck.
Armrest
The armrest is available in multiple variants, with options to choose from to ensure the operator is able to sit comfortably and has all the functions of the truck within easy reach. Several control elements, such as Linde Load Control, are integrated into the armrest, ensuring the minimum possible physical exertion for the driver.
Seat Variants
A wide variety of seat options provide additional comfort and active protection against postural injuries – with air suspension and lumbar support through to heated seating and active seat ventilation for outdoor use in all weather conditions.
Display
The standard 3.5-inch display shows the driver all of the key information – such as battery level, warning lights, and operating hours – at a glance. A 7-inch monitor is available as an option, which also shows the Linde Safety Pilot displays or images from the camera systems.
Air Conditioning*
In outdoor applications, having a driver’s cabin with effective heating and air conditioning Systems is essential to the comfort and productivity of the driver. That’s why the X20 – X35 and X35 – X50 electric forklift trucks come with an optional driver’s cabin, fitted with an eight-nozzle ventilation system (three nozzles for the driver, two in the foot well, and three defog nozzles for the windscreen), which ensures a comfortable work environment, no matter the temperature outside.

Mechanical Separation of the Steering Axle, Drive Unit, and Mast
The extensive decoupling of the driver’s workstation from the drive unit, steering axle, and mast significantly reduces the level of shocks and vibrations that are transmitted to the driver when traveling on uneven surfaces, which minimizes physical strain and ensures fatigue-free operation. An elastomer ring bearing also decouples the frame and chassis from the drive axle, which gives the driver optimum protection on uneven terrain.
Electronic Suspension of the Mast Ends
To prevent shocks and vibrations from being transmitted to the driver, the mast ends are electronically suspended. This also reduces wear on the mast components.
Safety in Every Detail
The new X20 – X35 and X35 – X50 electric forklift trucks are among the safest trucks in their class. To achieve this, they feature numerous passive elements and active safety options. In terms of design, the low center of gravity, together with the high steering axle and overhead tilt cylinders, provide good stability when cornering and ensure safe load handling at height. Linde Curve Assist, fitted as standard, reduces the speed according to the steering angle. Linde Load Assist, which also comes as standard, limits the lift and tilt functions when the fork carriage exceeds the maximum range during load handling. Thanks to the low, large, anti-slip entry step, there is no risk of injury when climbing in and out of the truck. The automatic parking brake protects the truck against accidental rolling.
A key safety feature is the excellent visibility of the load and the surroundings, which minimizes accidents involving people and other trucks. The Linde lithium-ion systems also feature a multi-stage safety concept, which allows the forklift trucks to be used in challenging environments with high mechanical loads and extreme temperature fluctuations. Batteries and power modules are sealed against moisture in line with the IP69X standard. The durability of the trucks has also been confirmed in a series of specially designed crash tests.
Pre-programmed for Networking
Thanks to their comprehensive sensor system and data transmission, the new X models come fully equipped for use in networked systems and can be integrated directly into the customer’s IT infrastructure, as well as into superordinate fleet management systems like Linde connect, and other digital processes. A series of sensors collect vehicle data for predictive usage planning, servicing, and remote diagnosis. Data is transmitted securely via a wireless connection, which also allows updates and new functions to be safely downloaded. These possibilities increase the availability of the trucks. Using the data about the charge level and capacities of the charging infrastructure, customers can optimize the use of the forklifts in the planning stage.
Fully Networkable
Connectivity is provided by the standard data transmission unit, which is connected to the vehicle control system via CAN bus and can transmit vehicle data via WLAN or 4G to the customer's own servers or cloud servers from Linde. The highest data protection standards are guaranteed. The connection of the vehicles to software systems helps operators use key figures, reports and dashboards to deploy their vehicles more efficiently, increase their availability, optimize maintenance planning, avoid repairs and improve safety when using the vehicles.
All-Round Easy Servicing
All assemblies and components of the X models are optimized for minimum wear in order to keep servicing costs significantly lower than for comparable trucks over the entire service life. The extremely easy servicing guarantees maximum availability. The parts that require maintenance are easy to access and replace. Key assemblies such as the mast can be quickly removed and replaced. Simple maintenance processes can be carried out directly by the driver with the aid of text messages on the display, which reduces time and costs for servicing.
The optional Linde Truck Health Management continuously monitors essential vehicle parameters and informs the fleet manager directly when key values measured by the truck reach a critical level. This allows the customer to take preventative measures, which in turn improves the availability of the trucks and ensures that a high level of servicing is guaranteed. In addition, any necessary servicing work can be planned in good time and better prepared for, which reduces the number of journeys and the costs.
Sustainability with No Loss of Performance
The X20 - X35 and X35 - X50 electric counterbalanced trucks allow users to invest in sustainable logistics solutions without having to compromise when it comes to performance. The X forklift trucks are the first to offer all the environmental benefits of an electrically powered truck with a performance level equivalent to that of an IC truck. The models are completely emission-free and noise emissions are reduced to a minimum. If sustainably generated primary energy is used, the trucks can be operated entirely free of CO2 emissions. This also lowers energy costs and reduces your carbon footprint as part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy. The electric forklift trucks also support the sustainable use of resources in the long term: After being used in the trucks, the lithium-ion battery systems can be used as static storage batteries or professionally recycled so that the raw materials can be reused.
